Today, founders face unprecedented competition, and without a clear story, their startups risk becoming commoditized. Technical talent, compute resources, and research breakthroughs are essential—but not enough. The founders who will build the next generation of iconic companies understand how to build brand trust, community, and cultural relevance from day one.Â
That's why we're thrilled to share the news that Elisa Schreiber is joining Felicis as our first-ever Chief Marketing Officer. As our CMO, Elisa will help Felicis portfolio companies with marketing and communications strategy, and lead all brand activities for our firm.
Elisa is one of the most experienced, creative, brave, and tenacious marketers in venture. She joins Felicis after an impressive 11+ year run leading marketing at Greylock, where she built both the firm's brand and a personal track record of launching and scaling some of the most successful startups of the past decade. While at Greylock, she led marketing for hundreds of startup launches, dozens of M&A events, and some of the biggest IPOs in tech. Her expertise with AI startups is particularly impressive, having played an active marketing role in bringing companies like Inflection AI, Adept AI, Abnormal Security, Resolve AI, and Manas AI out of stealth.Â
We know firsthand the drive and determination it takes to build something meaningful from scratch. Elisa is a builder at heart. Before Greylock, she led communications for Hulu at the onset of the streaming revolution. She organized the first TEDx and helped launch the global TEDx program, and created multiple programs for All Raise.
As we got to know Elisa, what struck us most wasn't just her impressive resume. It was how well she fit with the core values at Felicis. Elisa shares our genuine passion for helping founders succeed and has a deeply collaborative, high-integrity, and trust-based approach to partnership. We talked for hours about our shared belief that the best venture firms don't just write checks; they help builders build.Â
Elisa joins us at a pivotal moment in our journey. We've quietly built one of the strongest early-stage AI portfolios in venture, with investments in standout companies like Mercor, Browser Use, poolside, Runway, Skild.ai, and Weights & Biases. We had the privilege of investing early into iconic brands like Ayden, Canva, Notion, and Shopify — companies that didn't just build products but created entirely new ways of working and thinking. Since our founding in 2006, we've backed over 50 companies now valued at $1B+, with more than 100 acquisitions or public offerings, and our portfolio has captured more than $220B in market value. Felicis stands among just a handful of VC firms that have backed eight or more companies at Seed, Series A, or Series B rounds that went on to achieve $5B+ exits in the past decade.Â
And now with Elisa on board, we're better positioned than ever to help Felicis-backed founders win by building generational brands.
Welcome to Felicis, Elisa. We can't wait to create this next chapter together.
